Venetian Red: The Merging of Disegno and Colore
Sunday, March 26, 2017 5pm-7pm
Eighteenth century luminaries such as Tiepolo and Piazzetta developed a dynamic drawing manner in red chalk which emerged directly from the painterly approach of Titian and Tintoretto. Their drawing technique successfully united the two great traditions dominating the art world: Disegno and Colore.
Renowned artist, Robert Liberace (www.robertliberace.com), will bring to life the beauty and poetry of Venetian red chalk drawing as he works on a live portrait while describing the key features of this technique and how the Venetian painterly tradition shaped their approach to drawing.
This rich evening will be complemented by Venetian wines and small plates by Chef Francesco Ricchi.
